Carpet cleaning with Vanish and other household products
There are many household carpet cleaning chemicals available in Gig Harbor. Perhaps the most popular of them is the well-known Vanish. Despite the versatility declared by the manufacturer, this tool is not suitable for all types of coatings, and sometimes it is better to refuse its use. Let’s take a look at how to use Vanish without harming your carpet.
Several vanish shampoos: antibacterial, odor-removing shampoo, stain remover, and even bleach shampoo for light carpets.
Firstly, all of these cleaning products are only suitable for synthetic products since carpets made of artificial threads are resistant to abrasion and fading. And carpets made of natural wool or silk under the influence of chemistry can deform, wipe off or discolor. This applies to Vanish and all household carpet cleaning products: Flash, Mitex, Amway, SunLux. They are not suitable for carpets made of silk, wool, brocade, or suede.
Secondly, all household detergents are designed to clean fresh, newly formed stains quickly.
Finally, the third and significant note: only foam is used to clean carpets, not the liquid itself. Using Vanish and other household chemicals without harm to the carpet must be used correctly, without disregarding the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Correct use of Vanish for carpet cleaning at home:
Before cleaning with shampoo, the carpet must be vacuumed or shaken out to remove acceptable debris and dust from it.
Prepare Vanish solution. The too concentrated composition will harm the carpet, and a weak solution will not cope with dirt. Therefore, the correct ratio for the preparation of Vanish is 1: 9 (1 cap of detergent for nine caps of water). The water temperature should be no higher than 40 ° C.
Whisk the solution until thick foam. To do this, shake it up with a sponge.
Using a brush or sponge, apply the foam to the carpet’s surface and rub it in a circular motion.
If it is necessary to remove the stain, you can apply a dirty area’s local treatment. But to avoid streaks on the surface of the coating, it is recommended to clean the entire product.
After processing, leave the product to act on dirt for 2-3 hours. When the carpet is completely dry, vacuum it to collect any remaining cleaning agent.
Carpet cleaning with folk remedies
If you don’t have a suitable cleaning compound on hand, or you decide to save money on buying it, in some cases, you can use the tools at hand to clean carpets. However, use them with care to avoid ruining the carpet. The following recipes are not suitable for cleaning carpets with natural woolen and silk threads or suede brocade.
Before cleaning your carpet using one of the methods below, test the product on an inconspicuous area first. If you notice that the pile is wiping off or losing color, you should not clean the carpet!
Ammonia
The oldest and cheapest “stain remover” for carpets and furniture is ammonia. With its help, you can carry out preventive cleaning of the carpet from general dirt and grease. To do this, dilute 2/3 tablespoon (10 ml) of ammonia with 0.5 liters of water. Spray the solution over the carpet with a spray bottle and scrub with a brush or sponge. Let the carpet dry and vacuum it.
Soda
Soda is excellent at absorbing dirt and neutralizing odors. If the carpeting has marked your pet, baking soda will help eliminate the lousy urine odor. Sprinkle baking soda over the stain and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then vacuum the carpet.
Lemon juice
Lemon juice eats away dirt, making it an excellent natural stain remover. Apply freshly squeezed lemon juice neat to the stain. After 2 hours, treat the application area with plain water so that the pile of the carpet does not stick together. Let the coating dry and vacuum it up.
Laundry soap
Brown laundry soap is versatile in its action, and it does an excellent job of being a stain remover. Real, it is more suitable for fresh stains. Rub a bar of laundry soap with a grater and dissolve in warm water. Using a spray bottle, apply the compound to the carpet, let it dry, and vacuum. This recipe works well for weekly general carpet cleaning.
Vinegar
An effective way to eliminate fresh, non-stubborn stains is to treat the contaminated area with vinegar. Mix two tablespoons of vinegar with 0.5 liters of water and apply the resulting solution to the carpet. Scrub the stain with a stiff brush or sponge and vacuum the carpet when completely dry.
